Philip Hodgetts

I am an Australian American entrepreneur, with a background in educational and narrative production in Australia. After migrating to the USA, I continued to work as a training designer and writer for interactive training products for then new Final Cuto Pro 1.

I joined the DV Guys Podcast before podcasting was a thing and were one of the first podcasts listed in Apple’s directory. DV Guys led to the Digital Production BuZZ, which I enjoyed for a couple of years before selling it.

That signaled the transition to software developer, starting with the startling “First Cuts for FCP” metadata-driven automated editing. The need for metadata has driven a long term interest in “Artificial Intelligence,” along with my long term interest in anything metadata. Most of our apps are manipulating metadata in some way.

I’m currently president and co-creator of Lumberjack System and Intelligent Assistance. 

In the past I’ve written a couple of books and spoken at many conferences, most recently on Entertainment and Artificial Intelligence. I am a thought leader in the application of Artificial Intelligence to production workflows, although the “Aussie” in me would never claim that!
